ISLAMABAD: While chairing a meeting to review the progress of Rawalpindi Ring Road, Nullah Lai expansion and Lai Expressway plans, Prime Minister Imran Khan was given a detailed briefing on the projects to be executed.
The relevant authorities were directed by PM Imran Khan to submit final proposals, drafted after consultation with all stakeholders.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Industries & Production Hamad Azhar, Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid, and other senior officials were among the attendees of the meeting.
While briefing the meeting, PM Khan highlighted the importance of Nullah Lai expansion project that will act as a preventive measure against flood situations in the city.
Moreover, the Rawalpindi Ring Road project is set to cater to the increasing traffic issues faced by the residents.
The 65.8km Rawalpindi Ring Road project, approved by Punjab Chief Minister, Usman Buzdar will commence Rawat N-5 and terminate at Sangjani N-5.
The authorities approved setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), industrial zones, housing societies, business and educational hubs, healthcare facilities, parks, markets, transport terminals, along both the sides of the road project to uplift the economy.
The project to be constructed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model is scheduled to be completed within 2-3 years.
