LAHORE: A four-member World Bank delegation, led by Global Director Sameh Naguib, called on Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed and held a discussion regarding the provision of technical assistance for the construction of low-cost houses under Naya Pakistan Housing Project.
The delegation was briefed by the minister regarding the headway made in the actualisation of the Naya Pakistan Housing Project. He apprised the meeting of the impacts of the projects and the future designs for its expansion. He informed the delegation about the plan of the government to construct, in addition to 3 and 5-marla houses, high-rise buildings in major cities including Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan.
He welcomed the technical assistance of the World Bank in this pursuit and expressed that the assistance will further increase the progress of the project.
The delegation was briefed in detail regarding the collaborations with the private sector for the construction of houses under Naya Pakistan Housing Project.
The amendments in building bylaws of different government institutions to facilitate the real estate development sector was also a topic in the meeting.
The meeting concluded on an assurance from the delegation that the provision of technical assistance to the project will be a fundamental talking point in their meetings to come and alternatives will also be deliberated.
